North Queensland United FC Scoring Wins for Townsville
It’s an exciting time for football lovers and players alike as we kick off the 2018 National Premier League season. Things are a bit different this time around – there’s new team colours, a new name and jersey, a horde of exciting new talent – and it’s all adding up to a thrilling era for professional football in the north.
The team has overcome their share of obstacles to get to this point – loss of head coach and board president late last year – but the acceptance of a community-based funding model by Football Queensland, securing a major sponsor in Zoo Health & Fitness and Delta Office Solutions. along with a great pre-season start by the NQ United FC players has ensured an exciting season ahead for the new look club.
A new community-based ownership model
Under the new community-based model, players have the opportunity to play both club and representative football for a nominal fee collected through their club registration. Local club presidents have fully endorsed the model, which provides a representative pathway for younger players to follow, through development opportunities in their junior and senior club years.
Promote your business and support North Queensland United Football Club with a corporate sponsorship.
The model puts all players on an even playing field in terms of representation – NQ United FC technical directors and coaching staff will attend weekly club games to check out the talent and re-evaluate players who will put on the NQ United FC jersey and play at the next level.
It is anticipated that male and female NQ United FC players from under 20’s down will come out of the local competition every four to five weeks to play at the national level, then return to their clubs.
The model will also support the development of local club coaches and fund coaching clinics for players.
Head Coach of NQ United FC Michael Brooks was originally MA Olympic FC’s Local Premiership winning Head Coach for 2 years and has made the step up to Head Coach.
